Ayurveda is the Science of Life, traditional medicine of India, a form of very advanced biology.  Ayurveda is a word coined for the modern world from two Sanskrit roots: Ayus  (life) and Veda (science).   Ayurveda is considered the mother of all  medicines and its origins are lost in the night of times.

India is a country where mythology has smoothly preceded history without a break and nature is borderning to supernatural.  Ayurveda is of divine inspiration and comes from the Creator of the Universe.  This is how things are seen and understood in India.

“Ayurveda is believed to have originated as a ray of enlightenment in the cosmic consciousness of Brahma, the creator, at the time of creation.  Brahma composed Ayurveda as a branch of Atharva Veda ,consisting of a hundred thousand verses in a thousand chapters in eight sections or parts.  Brahma is believed to have imparted the knowledge to his disciple Daksha Prajapati, who passed it on to Ashwins, the twin gods, who in turn conferred it on Indra,  king of the gods. It is believed that great seers of the earth deputed eminent sages Dhanwantari, Bharadwaja and Kashyapa to heaven to learn this from Indra. That is how Ayurveda descended from the skies to alleviate the suffering of humans.”

This may be only one of the numerous legends surrounding the origins of Ayruveda.

Ayurveda has come a long way but it is still not recognised anywhere outside India and Sri Lanka.  Elsewhere, it is at best tolerated.  It is believed that if genuine Ayurveda was made available world-wide, it would impact seriously on the actual world economy .  Ayurvedic practitioners are doctors trained at university level for a minimum of six years.  They are called vaidyas and there are a few millions of them in India.

Ayurveda is much more than a beauty treatment or  body works or switching from one type of medication to another one like herbal products.  Ayurveda is a lifelong commitment for those who choose to live according to its teachings.  To know about Ayurveda, you may simply surf the Internet, (thanks to Wikipedia and many other highly informative sites).  You can also read one or many of the wonderful books now available on the market.  And for treatment, make sure you consult competent Ayurvedic practitioners.

To experience Ayurveda at its best, one must travel to India.  This is at least our opinion and we like to share it!

What you have stated in this article is absolutely true. I have known a friend who had kidney disease and the only option that he had in US was to get dialysis and eventually a transplant. He found a doctor in India who offered Ayurvedic kidney medicine and after few months of treatment is feeling much better. No need for dialysis or transplant anymore. I believe the centre in India is called Kundan Kidney Care.
